Hyundai's year in review, with real figures chalked up beside the cars and moments behind them. From Hyundai, New Thinking, New Possibilities

Numbers people actually take in

A slide full of figures is easy to skip. The same figures, revealed one at a time and tied to a picture, a place or a person, are far easier to remember. That is the job of infographic animation.

For Hyundai we built a year end review around a hand chalked blackboard, with real statistics written up next to photographs of the cars and moments behind them. For HSBC we brought real financial press and market data to life for the Group Chief Executive's Roadshow, drawing into the printed pages by hand.

Sometimes the information is a history rather than a set of numbers. Our film for Rio Tinto's AGM traced 140 years of the company, from its earliest days to the giant machinery of today, and was made in 16 days.

We design every chart, diagram and label ourselves, so the figures and the film share one look, and we can build a graphics package your own editors can keep updating, as we did for GSK.

What you get

We agree the scope with you at the start. These are the things most of our infographic projects include.

  • A visual idea

One clear idea that ties the numbers together, such as a chalkboard, a newspaper or a journey.

  • Script and storyboard

We shape your figures into a short script and a storyboard, and you check every number before we animate.

  • Custom charts and icons

Every chart, diagram and label is designed for your film, never taken from a stock library.

  • Voice, music and sound

A voice over, music and sound design, or a version that works in silence with on screen text.

  • Versions for every screen

Files for presentations, events, websites and social media, in the sizes each one needs.

  • Updatable graphics

When the figures change often, a template package your own team can edit and render again.

How it works

  1. Gather the facts.

You share the figures, reports or process, and we agree what the audience must remember.

  2. Find the idea.

We propose a visual idea and a short script that puts the numbers in order.

  3. Storyboard.

Key frames show how each figure will appear, and your team checks the data.

  4. Animate and review.

We animate the film and share it at set stages, with review rounds built in.

  5. Deliver.

The final film comes to you in every format you need.

Questions buyers ask

What is infographic animation?

It is animation that turns figures, facts and processes into moving charts, diagrams and pictures, so an audience can follow and remember them.

Can you work from our reports and spreadsheets?

Yes. Send us the source material and we will pull out the figures that matter, then ask your team to check every number in the storyboard.

Can the film be updated when the numbers change?

Yes. We can design the graphics so your own editors can update them, as we did for GSK's quarterly news programme.

How long should an infographic film be?

Most work best at one to three minutes. A single statistic for social media can be a few seconds long.

How quickly can you make one?

It depends on the length and detail. Our Rio Tinto AGM film was made in 16 days. We agree a schedule with you at the start.

Who owns the finished film?

Usage rights are agreed in writing before work begins, so you know exactly where and for how long the film can be used.

Have numbers that need a story

Send us the figures and tell us who needs to understand them. We will suggest the clearest way to show them.
