The first thing the audience sees

A title sequence sets the tone for everything that follows. In a few seconds it has to tell the viewer what kind of show this is, and make them want to stay.

Our titles have ranged from the comic book style sequence for Commando On The Front Line, an idea that came straight from the director, to the upcycled look of Kirstie's Fill Your House For Free, built around the specialities of its four presenters. For ITV's Nature's Fury we directed the shoot with the presenter and designed the main title.

Most shows need more than a title. We design full graphics packages with break bumpers, stings, name straps, presenter backgrounds and end sequences, and we can hand over ready to edit templates so your own team can drop in new footage, as we did for Holy Trinity Brompton's weekly news.

It is not only television. We made a short, energetic title sequence for That's You!, a PlayStation 4 party game from Sony Interactive Entertainment.

What you get

We agree the scope with you at the start. These are the pieces a title or graphics package usually includes.

  • Main title sequence

The opening titles, designed around the tone and themes of the show.

  • Idents and stings

Short branded moments for breaks, transitions and trailers.

  • Bumpers and end boards

Break bumpers, end sequences and credit backgrounds in the same style.

  • Name straps and captions

Lower thirds, captions and text beds that are easy to read on any screen.

  • Maps and explainers

Animated maps and graphic explainers to carry information within the programme.

  • Editable templates

Ready to edit sequences and project files so your editors can update the package.

How it works

  1. Brief.

We watch the footage or read the treatment and talk through the tone with the director.

  2. Design frames.

We present style frames and a storyboard for the main title.

  3. Animate.

The title is animated and cut to music, with review rounds built in.

  4. Build the package.

Stings, bumpers, straps and any maps are made in the same style.

  5. Deliver.

Everything is delivered to broadcast specification, with templates if you need them.

Questions producers ask

Can you deliver to broadcast specification?

Yes. We have delivered titles and packages for ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky One, including HD title sequences.

Can you work to the edit schedule?

Yes. We are used to fitting in around a programme edit and can deliver the title first and the rest of the package in stages.

Can our editors update the graphics themselves?

Yes. We can supply ready to edit templates and project files, as we did for Holy Trinity Brompton and GSK.

Do you make idents for channels and events?

Yes. We design short stings and idents for programmes, conferences and online series, as part of a full package or on their own.

Do you only work on TV shows?

No. We also make titles for games, conferences and online series, such as That's You! for PlayStation 4.

Who owns the finished titles?

Usage rights are agreed in writing before work begins, so you know exactly how and where the titles can be used.
