Show the viewer where they are
A good map tells the viewer where the story is happening and how far there is to go. An animated map can do more. It can trace a route, zoom from a continent to a single valley and show the scale of a challenge in a few seconds.
For Sky1's War Torn we designed and animated every map for the two episodes, following injured British service personnel on their route through the Everest region of the Himalayas. For Channel 5's Royal Marines Mission Afghanistan we made the map sequences that placed viewers in Nad e Ali, one of the most dangerous areas the Marines faced.
For ITV1's Nature's Fury we built a system of around ten animated maps to follow the presenter into hurricanes, tornadoes and fire storms, designed to sit alongside the title sequence we made for the series.
Each map is drawn to match the look of the programme, so it feels part of the film rather than a graphic dropped on top.

Questions producers ask
Can you make maps for a documentary series?
Yes. We have made map sequences for ITV1, Channel 5 and Sky1 documentaries, designed as one system across every episode.
How do you make sure the maps are accurate?
We work from real geographic reference and the locations you give us, and your team checks every name and route before animation begins.
Can you match the style of our title sequence?

Do you make still illustrated maps too?
Yes. We can draw maps for print, websites, books and presentations, in the same style as any animated versions.
Can the maps be timed to our edit?
Yes. Send us the cut or the timings and we will animate each map to fit, then adjust it if the edit changes.
Who owns the finished maps?
Usage rights are agreed in writing before work begins, so you know exactly how and where the maps can be used.
